Cruise Journalism Awards Winner
I am delighted to let readers of the blog know that I won an award in the CLIA UK & Ireland Cruise Journalism Awards for this year. I won the “Best Social Media” category, in recognition for creating a cruise resource for travellers across social media.
The Press Release about he awards said: ” Now in its fifth year the awards ceremony took place on 22nd March 2016. This prestigious event brought together senior cruise industry figures and journalists from across the entire spectrum of media platforms for an evening of celebration. BBC business correspondent, Ben Thompson led the awards, helping to recognise the outstanding contribution that journalism has made to the cruise industry in the past twelve months.
This year the awards saw a record number of entries and the final total came in at over 350. The entries revealed a wealth of diverse and forward thinking cruise coverage, showing that cruise is an integral component of any great travel media. The judging panel included CLIA’s PR Working Group and Andrew Gardner chairman of cruise.co.uk, and they had the unenviable task of declaring just 12 worthy winners after reviewing the coverage submitted.
“The exceptional number of high quality entries reflects the continued growing interest in cruise. The media remains integral to our mission to promote the sheer diversity of cruise holidays and in particular raising its profile to attract first-time cruisers. The fifth annual CLIA Cruise Journalism Awards have recognised the importance of both traditional and digital media, ensuring cruise gets the coverage it deserves across the breadth of media platforms,“ said Andy Harmer, VP Operations CLIA Europe.
