I was at this hotel for a work meeting. It seems to be a popular combination of business / conference accommodation and tourist hotel as it is a 4 Star but quite cost effective and reasonable priced.
The hotel does not look great, or very much, from the outside, but they have revamped the bedrooms and the public rooms- and so it is much better than the external look.
The bedrooms are small, but do have a bit of a “wow” factor. They are modern looking with a mirror wall to make it look bigger, mirrored table, TV with a huge range of channels and very modern bathroom with shower (no bath) that has a very complex shower head and jets that took me a while to work out. The bathroom has wallpaper covered with perspex or some sort of cover, although I did notice they are not as waterproof as they may have hoped! The beds were fine, but not hugely comfortable. There is a large breakfast room with buffet that has a pretty good spread. We also ate in the same restaurant for lunch, and the food was ok but not amazing or that impressive.
Overall the hotel is fine. I would not rush back but it is good value, good location and modern rooms. I did not have any problems with noise from the road and area, but some of the people I was with did comment on it.
The staff is mixed in terms of service, and the reception service was a bit off-hand and not that helpful, but in some other areas the staff were cheerful and helpful.
I grew up in Zimbabwe, but I have been based in London since 1987. My travel life spans more than three decades and that includes more than 95 cruises. In 2005, I launched Tips for Travellers to make it easy and fun for people to discover, plan and enjoy incredible cruise vacations. And the rest, as they say, is history.
