The surprising town of Passau – visited on my Uniworld River Cruise
Passau in Germany is the embarkation or disembarkation town for the Uniworld River Cruises “Enchanting Danube” river cruise based on which way you are doing the trip. It is also a city full of surprises.
It has one of the world’s three largest church organs in a staggeringly beautiful and massive cathedral (St Steven’s), is uniquely positioned where three key rivers meet (The Danube, Inn and Ilz) which is how it created its wealth in the past when the rivers were the main transportation route for the salt trade and it suffers from dramatic flooding every few decades. The second largest being in June 2013 when large areas of the city were covered with water.
Here are some images from the time spent there to show the beauty of this fascinating town.
I am travelling as a guest of Titan Travel UK and Uniworld.
